Forgot to post last week!

I took a little bit of a break from reading after reading 7 books in June as I didn't want to burn myself out. But I've begun again!

Finished: Blood of Elves, by Andrzej Sapkowski and Time of Contempt, by Andrzej Sapkowski I've finally managed to make a dent in my backlog with my GoodReads Reading Challenge; a big part of my backlog is the Witcher series and I'm so glad for it because these books are quite enjoyable. I'm a big fan of the games and I really enjyoed these two books.

Started: IT, by Stephen King So, I finally started my first Stephen King book in anticipation of IT: Chapter Two due to come out in September. One of my best friends is a massive Stephen King fan and she has been recommending me to read him for quite a while, but his books have never really piqued my interest. I'm about 50 pages in and it's quite gripping so I'm excited to sink my teeth into a King novel and maybe consider reading Misery, The Shining or even The Dark Tower (which given the huge Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan I am, I feel like I really should have considered to read by now!)

I finished Sword of Destiny, by Andrzej Sapkowski and moved straight onto Blood of Elves, by Andrzej Sapkowski.

I really enjoyed both short story compilations, but think I actually preferred Sword of Destiny to The Last Wish, primarily because the stories were slightly longer and felt more fleshed out.

So far, I’m enjoying Blood of Elves and am about 40% through. I like that it picks up almost immediately after the main story in SoD, and I’m curious to know where it’s going from here. I feel like I’m quite far through for nothing major to have happened yet, but I guess there’s plenty more books in the series if this doesn’t wrap up neatly.

Finished Abaddon's Gate, by James S. A. Corey and started Blood of Elves, by Andrzej Sapkowski. Although it was hard to put off reading the next book in expanse, it's definitely worth it to pick up next witcher book!

I’m still on Blood of Elves, by Andrzej Sapkowski because I didn’t spend enough time reading last week. I’m nearly finished though (90% done) and should finish it off tonight.

Depending on how much of a cliffhanger this ends on, I’ll either be moving onto Time of Contempt, by Andrzej Sapkowski or Metro 2033, by Dmitry Glukhovsky because I bought that last week and am very excited to read it.

I'm currently reading Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski found here. This is not my normal book genre, but I was intrigued when I heard that the Prime Minister of Poland had once gifted a copy of this series to President Obama. I had also played the video game, so this bit of trivia had me very curious. The first two books in the series are collections of short stories and this is the first novel. I'm just getting started, but I'm really enjoying it so far.

finished Blood of Elves, by Andrzej Sapkowski. I read the 2 books of short stories ages ago and really enjoyed them but found this book a bit slow. I found the occasional chapter of "political intrigue" really draining and not really that interesting. I'll probably pick up the next in the series as it was still interesting enough for me to want to know what happens next.

Currently, back on the expanse series. Started Cibola Burn, by James S. A. Corey . Really looking forward to seeing how they build on the current universe.

Finished: Stories Of the Law and How It’s Broken by, The Secret Barrister I can not recommend this book enough to people. I think the author does a very good job of explaining 'legalese' so that the reader doesn't feel confused by the terminology used and it's very eye-opening to the current state of the UK legal system.

Dark Matter, by Blake Crouch Finished this on my train rides over the weekend. Very well written sci-fi book. I enjoyed it a lot. I really enjoyed the Wayward Pines TV series, so I'm tempted to read the books now given that Crouch also wrote them. Tempted by his new release as well that's a spiritual successor to Dark Matter.

Started:

I'm between books for now. I've read about 7 books in June alone, so I want to dial it back a bit so I don't burn myself out. For now, I've got Blood of Elves, by Andrzej Sapkowski, Metro 2035, by Dmitry Glukhovsky or A Storm of Swords, by George R. R. Martin to start!

Finished: Astrophysics for those in a hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson Quite interesting, some complex ideas in places; physics isn’t my area of expertise but something I’m fascinated by.

Started: James Acaster’s Classic Scrapes by James Acaster Hilarious so far, I’ve cried from laughter twice.

Blood of Elves by Andrzej Sapkowski Recently got back into the Witcher 3 so I want to go through the books for full appreciation of how good that world is.

Finished Augustus by John Williams. Stoner is still my favorite but it was really good. I liked the epistolary format.

Started Blood of Elves, by Andrzej Sapkowski. I read The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny a long time ago, felt like I'm in a Witcher mood.
