Finished The Subtle Knife, by Philip Pullman. I like the addition of the second MC in Will. The plot surrounding the knife has been quite the read.

Started The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman to conclude the story of Lyra and Will. So far so good. The named title piece has yet to make its debut but hoping it's as important and strategic of an item as the alethiometer and the knife.

Onto volume two of the lightnovel Overlord, by Kugane Maruyama. Enjoying it still. I think the anime adaption has been pretty faithful. Like all adaptions, it's nice getting the snaller details explained more in the text that the anime has to sometimes skip due to plot or time constraints.

Finished

The Amber Spyglass by Philip Pullman While the writing was still very good, I just didn't care for this book as much as the 2 before it.

Leaving The Fold by Marlene Winell, Ph.D., which is an excellent book on leaving fundamentalist faiths, or religion in general and moving on with your life.

Bait and Switch by Megan Hunter

The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman I actually read this series when I was a lot younger and because he came out with a new book I decided to reread them all as an adult.

Today I finished reading The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman, so I've finished the whole His Dark Materials trilogy now... Wow! I'm completely overwhelmed! These were some of my favorite characters I've ever read. I feel like I got to know them personally, and ache to read more about this universe and their lives within it. I'm supposed to read Jurassic Park and Kafka on the Shore next, but I think, alongside those, I definitely have to get reading the other books related to this series as well.

The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman

... Thus finishing the HDM trilogy for the first time.

I loved this trilogy, but I’m sure most people here are sick of hearing about it, so I won’t gush over it too much. All I will say is that I felt a strange emptiness since finishing it. Without spoiling anything for those who haven’t read it, the ending didn’t make me cry like I believe it has many others, but rather left me feeling a bit depressed and deflated, in a way that only a lovingly told story could.

Definitely going to pick up The Book of Dust this week, I can’t wait for more from this universe!

Edit: also read Metamorphosis, by Franz Kafka. Again, a story I’m sure most people here are familiar with. Very interesting, thought provoking read.

Finished The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman to conclude His Dark Materials trilogy. Definitely an enjoyable read. The Lyra and Will relationship was great character development that was further advanced by other essential characters. Iorek Byrnison is one of the most memorable characters I've encountered and has become one of my favorites of all time.

Started reading Medium Raw, by Anthony Bourdain as a remembrance to this legendary man. Absolutely the hardest celebrity death to me personally as I've enjoyed nearly all of his work. Will be drinking a good bourbon as I conclude the final pages in this novel.

Also on volume 4 of Overlord, by Kugane Maruyama. The Lizardman arc has begun. Also one of the most boring arcs in a relatively great light novel series.
